I am a philosopher working mainly in political philosophy and (applied) ethics. My current research interests are the ethics and political philosophy of parenthood, individual moral responsibility in collective contexts, ideal and nonideal theory, climate justice, and feminist liberalism. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Zurich in 2014 and worked as a postdoc at the Universities of Graz (2015-2018) and Bern (2018-2022). I took up a position as assistant professor at the University of Basel with my SNSF-funded research project „Just Parenthood: The Ethics and Politics of Childrearing in the 21st Century“ in 2023.

About

I grew up in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, a small town on the French-German language border. When I started university, I first majored in political science, until I found philosophy in my mid-twenties and never looked back. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Zurich in 2014. As a postdoc, I moved to Graz, Austria and later back to Bern, Switzerland. I am now an assistant professor at the University of Basel where I lead the „Just Parenthood Project“. I live in Basel with my longterm partner (also a philosopher) and our son.

My native language is German and I speak English, French, Spanish, and some Italian.
